Descrição: O objetivo principal deste projeto é caracterizar melhor, utilizando métodos inovadores, OCTA e OCT-L, a evolução e progressão dos fenótipos B e C, identificando olhos que apresentam progressão da doença para as complicações da Retinopatia Diabética ameaçadores da visão (fenótipos de progressão). Desta forma, poder-se-á caracterizar as principais características dos fenótipos progressores isquémicos ou de derrame, utilizando métodos não invasivos.
Outros objetivos deste estudo são a medição dos biomarcadores plasmáticos de inflamação de baixo-grau: Proteína C reativa de alta sensibilidade (PCR-as), interleucina-6 (IL-6), interleucina-8 (IL-8), os níveis de hiperglicemia calculados pelos valores de hemoglobina glicada (HbA1c) e lípidos. Procura-se correlacionar estes valores com os parâmetros oftalmológicos. Está igualmente planeada a identificação das correlações entre os progressores e os resultados do estudo, para caracterizar olhos/doentes com agravamento da Retinopatia Diabética.
