3rd Annual Coimbra Champalimaud Symposium
The 3rd Annual Coimbra Champalimaud Symposium will be held in Coimbra on 27/06/2013 with the ininstitutions recognized as C-TRACER by the Champalimaud Foundation: LV Prasad Eye Institute in India, AIBILI in Coimbra and the Paulista Institute of Studies and Research in Ophthalmology from S. Paulo, Brazil. The program will be announced soon. This meeting will be followed by the International Symposium of Ophthalmology (28-29/06/2013) organized by the Department of Ophthalmology of the University Hospital of Coimbra.

Prof. Cunha-Vaz receives the 2014 Mildred Weisenfeld Award for Excellence in Ophthalmology
The Mildred Weisenfeld Award for Excellence in Ophthalmology is presented to Prof. Cunha-Vaz in recognition of distinguished scholarly contributions to the clinical practice of ophthalmology. Prof. Cunha-Vaz will present a lecture and will be given a plaque at the 2014 ARVO Annual Meeting.

Prof. Cunha-Vaz receives the 2012 Bial Award of Clinical Medicine.
Prof. Cunha-Vaz received the 2012 Bial Award of Clinical Medicine for his work "Diabetic Retinopathy: new perspectives for personalized treatment." The ceremony for the awards was held on May 14, at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar, Porto, Portugal.

The presentation of the PNEC, developed by Infarmed, was held in Lisbon on 20/03/2012. The Portuguese Health Minister said on Tuesday that the creation of the National Clinical Trials Platform (PNEC) is "an important step" to attract clinical research of "high quality" and increase the number of trials taking place in Portugal.
