This unit provides scientific information to support the decision making in healthcare policy and practice. Health Technology Assessment Unit (HTA) is a tool to ensure equity in the access to medicines and the most favourable benefit/risk and cost/effectiveness ratios in the drug use process. 

HTA is, therefore, of capital importance in both drug reimbursement decisions at ambulatory settings and hospital formulary inclusion decision processes.

HTA is also responsible for the Pharmacovigilance Unit of the Centre Region (UFC) that is coordinated by INFARMED, IP – National Authority of Medicines and Health Products, IP.
